Vet Referrals

AniDerm Referrals provides dermatology support for veterinary practices and their clients through both face-to-face dermatology referral clinics and remote advisory consultations.

All cases are reviewed by Dr Peter Kukadia BVM&S (Edin.), BSc (Hons), CertAVP (VD), MRCVS

RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Dermatology, with over 15 years’ experience managing referral dermatology cases.

The aim is to provide an accessible referral pathway for pets with challenging skin and ear disease, while maintaining continuity and collaboration with the primary veterinary practice.

Face-to-Face Dermatology Referral Clinics

AniDerm Referrals provides face-to-face dermatology consultations through selected partner veterinary practices.

These clinics are designed to offer an accessible referral pathway for patients requiring further investigation or management of skin and ear disease, while maintaining continuity with the patient’s primary veterinary practice.

Cases suitable for referral include:

  • chronic allergic skin disease

  • recurrent ear disease

  • recurrent skin infections

  • chronic pruritus

  • alopecia and hair loss

  • other dermatology cases where further investigation or treatment planning may be beneficial

Consultations may involve dermatological examination, cytology, skin testing, otoscopy and other appropriate investigations depending on the individual case.

Following consultation, a detailed report will be provided outlining examination findings, diagnostic results and recommended ongoing management.

Clients remain registered under the care of their primary veterinary practice, who continue to provide routine healthcare, repeat prescriptions and out-of-hours support unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.

For any questions or concerns between dermatology appointments, clients should contact their primary veterinary practice in the first instance. Where required, the primary veterinary team can liaise with AniDerm regarding ongoing dermatology management.

Remote Dermatology Advisory Consultations

For cases where a face-to-face consultation may not be practical due to location, travel, availability or other circumstances, AniDerm also provides remote dermatology advice through Pet Skin Doctors.

This service allows pet owners and veterinary practices to access dermatology guidance while maintaining continuity with their primary veterinary practice.

Common scenarios where this may be useful include:

• clients seeking reassurance or further understanding of their pet’s condition
• chronic dermatology cases where additional guidance may help
• situations where referral for a face-to-face consultation is not currently possible

The process:

  1. The referring vet provides relevant medical history and clinical information.

  2. A remote consultation is carried out with the owner.

  3. A written report is provided to both the owner and veterinary practice.

  4. The primary veterinary practice remains responsible for implementing treatment plans, prescriptions and ongoing care.
